Some pictures for a change

Well, I'm still in my busy time of the year. Interesting though: 2009 so far turns out to bring more work (paid work even!) than 2008. Let's hope the trend continues! (knocks on wood with crossed fingers)

In between work I managed to take two pictures in our garden this late afternoon. The first shows a dove sitting in her... well... nest would be too nice a word for that heap of sticks but I guess it's what doves call nest anyway.

The second one is a leaf with some sprinkles of water on it that were glistening in the evening sun... had to take the zoom lens because I left the normal one inside and by the time it takes to get it the light would have been gone for good: sunset light changes by the minute.

Don't knock on wood with crossed fingers! They'll cancel out...too late. All your clients probably just woke up with the strange feeling you're ripping them off. At least you have a dove raising a lovely, noisy family under what looks like your metal drain pipe. I hope you like hearing the magnified sounds of "Wuk wuk wuk wuk!" All through the day.
I think that's the first time I've ever actually seen a nest made out of sticks like that as bird nests are usually portrayed. Usually in real life they're more like woven grass bowls. I can't imagine how doves keep those rickety things together, but then they always struck me as really stupid birds, so maybe they don't.

Hehe :) I doubt that they will be that loud: that drain pipe is for our garage and it's in the garden, about 10 meters away from the house and several more from the bedroom.

As for doves being stupid birds: Our neighbor had a dove nest in one of his trees once and the eggs kept falling through the stick-nest :) Avian birth control or natural selection at work? You decide ;P
