A few random thoughts about april fools...
You summarized this so perfectly.

And more & more the people I know aren't big fans of any pranks any more at all because too often these pranks have become mean spirited.

I don't think addition marks are planned: There is an additional setting to "rate" the content, which has always(ish) been there.

Again, requiring sign in on stuff that is not "exclusively for kids"…

A few details on something though, if I may inquire.... does this mean that YT is adding additional marks to uploaded videos to identify them by age-viewing group…
